Skills Guide

Status Effects

Debuffs are System-induced effects inflicted through skills, alchemy, or bombs. They are not simple notifications of an affliction, as having a physical burn is a separate matter from having the Burn Debuff. If a skill applies Bleed, but armor blocks the actual wound, the Bleed effect is still inflicted because the Debuff itself is System-induced.
A character starts with 1 slot for a Debuff skill and gains another every 10 levels, to a total of 11. Basic Stat Debuffs do not count toward these slots. Shadow users get the same additional slots, but start with 5 slots, putting their cap at 15.A skill can contain 1 Debuff.A character may have up to 3 AOE debuffs.DoT Debuffs are limited to 1 of each per character.A character may have up to 2 Control Debuff skills.A character may have 1 of each enhanced debuff, such as Dread, Frenzy, or Diseased, but they have to start as Fear, Despair, or Sick from Rank 1.The rank of Debuffs can be increased through skill milestones at the level thresholds listed below. Duration and cooldown increase automatically at those milestone levels, meaning all Debuffs learned can be maxed.
The cooldowns of single target Debuffs can be decreased up to 2 times through Prestige tokens. AOE Debuff cooldowns cannot be decreased below their listed minimum at all.
Any time a buff or debuff is used on a target, regardless of the source, it cannot be used again on the same target until two turns have passed after the original effect wears off, unless it is a stackable debuff. It can still be used normally on a different target when the written cooldown passes. This is to prevent anyone from being locked into a specific debuff.
