Buffs are helpful effects that can strengthen allies, protect them from debuffs, restore health, or improve their ability to act in a scene. A large portion of the Buff system is tied to Holy affinity, however. Buffs marked with an asterisk (*) are usable by anyone, while buffs without that mark are only usable by characters with Holy affinity.
A character can have one skill per Buff, and the skill needs to be specifically for applying that buff. It should not be a buff added as a tagalong effect to another unrelated skill. Non-Holy users start with 1 slot and gain another every 15 levels.
Basic Stat Buffs do not take up slots in any case.
The durations of Buffs increase automatically at the level thresholds listed below. This means all the buff skills a character learns can be maxed, regardless of milestone pattern.
The cooldown of Buff skills can be decreased up to 2 times with Prestige points, to a minimum of 2 turns.
Holy Benefits
The Holy mage starts with 1 slot for a Buff skill, and gains another every 5 levels.
Divine Conduit starts with 3 slots and needs 1 less thread to learn a buff skill.
Holy users have the option of channeling buffs through Spells. If this is done, the rank of the buff determines the cost of the spell, and that cost recurs for each turn the Spell is upheld.
The exception is Regen, where the cost recurs every other turn it is upheld.
